Thanks everyone for the input. I subsequently found out through Catalina that the mast manufacturer installs the lighting on the masts and there are differences. By the way...when I first got the boat 13 years ago I could not figure out why the anchor light was so hard to see. In anchorages I compared my puny light output to others around me and there was a definite difference. Turns out Forespar had installed an anchor light for a 27 foot boat or smaller. After a lightening strike in Dec 2001 I had the appropriate light put on the mast head. Much better and I now look like one of the "big boys".
